Drawing Site and Sight
Cityscapes
Drawing is approached through the use of blind contour and opposite hand techniques in order to enhance the act of observing.
From this point on it is a case of experimenting with different drawing media including charcoal, ink and texters and then creating collaged works from the pieces. The work is exploratory and aimed at refining visual literacy and observational skills.
This approach was used in the Child Adult Artist Response Project (CAARP) where student teachers from the University of Melbourne were paired with Year 5 and 6 students and worked together as co-creators. These drawings then formed the basis for wire sculptures.
